Transmission trouble

I have a 96 Windstar van started shifting from 3 to 2 gear and it is not shifting back ANY IDEAS Please help

research

look at some older posts, they talk about a number of sensors on the
tranny, I think there is a senor for what gear it is in. I would get a manual and start changing sensors, and a fluid change if it has been a while
