What do you think this could be?

Just recently I noticed that if I accelerate and go around a left curve, i hear something under the car, it's hard to describe, the best I can say is it sounds like something is moving and bumping underneath or something. It also does it if I am just turning left on a corner. going right doesn't do anything. Also, when I accelerate really fast (going straight) it does it again.

My friend says it could be the CV joints. Just need some ideas.

CV or bearing. Not necessarily expensive but might need an alignment afterwards.

auto.consumerguide.com has a list of common 3s problems and their costs to fix, and I think the CV's are on there... oh screw it, I'll look it up myself... Holy shit, okay it says the average replacement cost on those puppies is about 1,500 buckaroos....

no way dude, thats probably for the whole drivetrain, the cv joint is like 80 bucks and the whole axle replaced is like 120. I used to work at an auto parts so I know the parts cost well, its the labor that you gotta be carefull on. I had my driver sid cv joint and boot all replaced for 180 part and labor.

Re: What do you think this could be?

driverside axle $120 replaced
passenger $100 replaced

did labor myself.

Take a look at your CV boots to see if they are ripped or loose, there's a possibility you can simply have them repacked with grease and you'll be fine.

Re: What do you think this could be?

just do it yourself.. its actually pretty easy. an hour if you gotta lift... 3hrs if you are at home with a jackstand. make sure to drain your tranny first.

i have the same problem, tho for me it occurs on rigth turns, so i'm guessing passenger side CV joint?

also, why is it necessary to drain the tranny fluid before replacing the CV joint?

thanks

Re: Re: Re: What do you think this could be?

If it happens on right turns it is your left CV or bearing whatever. If you have any experience in taking a front end apart you should be able to swap the axle in under and hour.
