Question where should i buy my Bomex body kit??

okay i've decided i like the bomex body kit for my 99 gst, mainly because i love the front and it keeps the factory side markers and factory reverse lights.

a few questions.

i fould 2 sites that carry the kit that look legit.

Importinovation kit is $1,025
http://www.importinnovation.com/aero...l.aspx?ID=2008

Racerwheel kit is $399
http://www.racerwheel.com/abr-me95bmxkit.html

why is there such a price difference? is the one from racerwheel crappy? will it take $600 more to get it installed?

also my car is lowered a good amount, not sure how much. i can stick my foot under the side (factory side skirt) and move it up about an inch. would this kit make it too low? doesn't the eclipse have a factory body kit so that its already low? would a bk make it too low?

car has a sport suspension, shocks and springs, is there any way short of replacing parts to get it rasied up any? like could anything be done cheaply to get it up about 1/4" or more? i really want a body kit but i don't want my frong bumber hitting the ground.

thanks

Re: where should i buy my Bomex body kit??

idk ,that kit adds another 3 feet to your car and 800lbs of weight...if you like and thats the look your going for get it.....i personally think it looks to bulky...and unless your like an inch off the ground you should be fine clearance wise...

If you like the kit itself then go for it. I was gonna get the same kit myself a while back, but then reconsidered even getting a kit. If I was to get a kit now, I prob would go with that.

As for the price diff. The one costing $1g from importinnovation is prob high quality and will bolt right on. You shouldnt have any prob installing it. However the $400 is prob cheap quality and installation WILL be a pain. Just think about it, if the kit was good quality then why is he selling it for $400 and not like $900? Its prob Ebay quality. My advice is, if your gonna get it kit, do it right! Dont try to save a few bucks (which may be hundreds in your case), but end up screwing yourself and spending alot just getting it to fit. And with the labor costs these days, you prob dont want that to happen.

Let us know how it goes! Good Luck Man!

The price difference means the cheap one will be really shitty and lots of install work the expensive one will have less work so either way you will pay the same amount. Also when you install body kits fiberglass and stuff you actually lose some weight cause you dont use all the stock brackets and all that crap and sometimes you end up cutting your bumper rienforcments so it lightens your car actually but when somebody runs in to you at 2 miles per hour like somebody did to me yes 2 milers per hour. YOUR KIT WILL BLOW UP CRACK RIGHT IN HALF AND FLY 50 FEET if its made out of fiberglass.

Is one of the kits fiberglass, and the other one polyurethane? If it is that way, DEFINATLY get the polyurethane kit, much stronger/durable and really flexible. A good polyurethane kit would probably last you upwards of 8 years! Whereas a cheap-o fiberglass one would probably top out at 4 years or so, plus fiberglass cracks easily.

EXAMPLE: Say you have that Bomex kit and its Fiberglass, and you pull up to say, Sonic to get a chili pie mmmm...chili, and you hear a loud cracking noise....you assume the worst and get out and, sure enough there is your brand new front bumper, cracked almost in half on the curb you just pulled up to so you could get close enough to push that damned little red button to order a damned CHILI PIE BUT YOU GET TO CLOSE AND RIP OFF YOUR NEW BUMPER THAT YOU JUST....ahem, sorry...Now then, lets say you get the Bomex kit you got is polyurethane, same situation except this time instead of a loud cracking sound, you hear a loud SCRAPING sound, you get out AFTER you push the infamous little red button of DEATH AND DESTRUCTION that caused this to happen in the first place, to get your long awaited chili pie, you assume the worst, but whats this? The front bumper is merely bent under the car?!?! (Still not good but better than cracking the shit in half.) Minor-medium paint damage (not even that if you powder coat your kit *hint*) and maybe a minor crack and ripped out bolt TOPS, but in the fiberglasses case, that bumper would be f*****, maybe even beyond repair...

Moral of the story is, if your gonna get a bodykit, dont crap out and get the cheap-o fiberglass, ask if they have it in polyurethane...you'll wish you had later on.

<EDIT> I didn't see that anarchy and coolguy already mentioned that fiberglass sucks ass, so actually I just typed all this for no reason, but still, you get the point.

thanks for the great info!!! now i just need to know how i can tell what kit would have to remove the stock bumber reienforcements

also i can't find any other urethane kit besides the blitz, and it says they expand and contract with different temps. that may not be good for me, as i'm in Erie, PA. 4 seasons. 15 F in winter and 90 F in summer.
