Quietest Exhaust

hey guys , im looking for an exhaust right now and my budgets around 500 give or take a little. i want the quietest exhaust possible(w/o sacrificing too much gains). at first i heard rsr had the best but my buddy just got one and its LOUD. is it possible that the same exhaust could sound different for every car? (because his 240sx is incredibly loud) anohter friend(gsr) has a new thermal stealth and its nice and mellow. any other suggestions??

Your buddy got the wrong RSR exhaust. What you're looking for the the RSR Exmag, your friend likely has an RSR GTII. The exmag essentially sounds stock, short ram intakes are known to be louder. Another alternative is an Apexi World Sport.

Yeah, actually it is the GTII taht he got. how does the exmag compare overall to thermal stealth exhausts(cost/performance/sound)

Re: Quietest Exhaust

I have an Apex'i WS and it sounds great, a little deeper than stock. When it hits the vtec it roars.

Seriously though, check the thread dates and don't bring back old threads.

if you're looking to keep the price down, Pacesetter makes a "MONZA" series exhaust that is just as quiet as stock, just a little deeper...my buddy has one and it is really nice. it was like $140 from an internet site.

Pacesetter is the biggest piece of crap, don't even bother wasting your money.

Re: Quietest Exhaust

This is quite an old post and while it's been awhile since I've had it I still recommend the RSR Exmag. In the initial changeover between what I had before it (Magnaflow dual tips) and this I had percieved this exhaust as entirely inaudible; in the year now that I have had it I can see that if equipped with a 2.2L DOHC VTEC engine ANY exhaust will be loud once that VTEC hits. I enjoy being silent around the city (chuckling a little bit as a fart can rolls by) and, quite frankly, I would not mind if my exhaust was silent when VTEC engages too! I certainly don't want cops hearing me coming from a mile away..

With that said, the tone of the RSR is incredibly low; maybe that accounts for its inaudibility at low RPMs. When you're at the top, with VTEC roaring it sounds a little like an F1 car -- phenomenal.
