'92 Rodeo Automatic hubs

Hi all,

First off, I'd like to say that this is a great forum, which I've been following for a while now.

Here's my issue:

My 3.1L '92 Rodeo will not engage into 4WD. I have confirmed that power is transferred through the tranny, to the transfer case to the rear wheels and the front diff. Both front drive axles are powered, however the auto hubs do not lock.

I've been looking all over for a exploded view of these hubs, just so I can compare mine before purchasing manual ones. There was another thread on this list that stated that there are supposed to be a c-clip located inside the hub, but I'd like to look at pics if I can before I rip the units apart.

Would one failed unit prevent both from engaging? Is there anything else I should look for while I have the units ripped apart? I did take the driver side cap off, and the actual outer gear ring seems to slide and retract ok, but again, just not engaging. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Tks,

Steve
