Re: Rim question...

what color is your car. 19's look AWESOME if you want to go big. i have a pair of 17's on an eclipse and a pair of 19's on a talon and i'd have to say the 19's look way better. get some 19's and lower it 1 1/4 in. also what color is ur car, that'll help you decide what type of rim to get.

Re: Rim question...

if you plan to lower it but not a whole lot, i'd go with at least 18's. the gunmetal/graphite finish looks awesome on a black cars. if i were you though, i'd go with at least 18's. no rubbing issues at all with 18's, and not even with 19's.

From what ive heard, anything over 17" will bring a major loss of low-end torque and make you a big fat pig off the line if you dont have a good amount of WHP. But if you dont car about being fast and only about LOOKING fast (*cough*ricer*cough*) then go ahead and get some 18-19" and lower that shit to where you gotta go 2mph over speed bumps and still scrape a hole in your oil pan eventually (depends on HOW low and HOW BIG you BK is if you have one.) Not to mention if you have a body kit, then you might as well learn how to patch fiber glass and get used to taking off and fixing all 4pcs of your BK every month or so, plus repainting. (May be exagerating a bit, but a few of my friends have f'ed up their BK hundreds of times because their car is too low.)

Oh, and if you get 18-19's odds are you would be getting some low profile tires and one day your gonna hit that damn pot hole at your local grocery store and bend the lip of your rim(s).

But hey what do I know I could be completely and utterly wrong....

P.S. 19s are way to big for a DSM (IMO) and look like shit 99.9% time

Re: Rim question...

i think my 19's look awesome on a dsm. 20's look retarded, but 19's look nice. amazing what 1 inch does to the look of a car. also if you don't drive like an idiot and actually keep care of your car, you shouldn't have a problem with bottoming out or anything if you lower it an inch or so. 18's are a nice size to go with and i think if you get 18's with 40 profile tires it doesn't affect your speedometer at all. just my opinion.

Got any pics of your Eclipse with the 19s? I wanna see how "AWESOME" it really is. But from what ive seen 19s are just ugly and gaudy (chrome especially.)

Re: Rim question...

Nice rims, but 19s are massive. 17s is the biggest ill go. im looking at the 6 spoke or 8 spoke. The car will then be dropped slightly (1/2" - 1")

What kind of eclipse is it (GST/x or RS/GS?), and did you notice any acceleration diffrences (1st-2nd gears) before and after you put on the 19s? (be honest now....)

Here David-B, Fit your description, and they look pretty good too.

Re: Rim question...

it's an rs (AUTOMATIC TOO- FEEL THE G'S OFF THE LINE) so i don' thave to worry about "off the line" times here, but i'm also puttin 19's on my tsi awd for the street (gettin 15" lightweights for the track though)

It has a little selection box that asks if you want tires...pretty broad selection too. from like 205-235, and 35-45...it even has a choice of 17 or 18 and 20" too....those are machine carbon black, so they are pretty dark it just dosent look it in the pic..
