Changing ECU on 2000 Passat

Does anybody know where I can source a ECU for a 2000 Passat 115 PD TDI Estate in the UK (or elsewhere if they ship it)

I had a problem with the turbo not working below about 2400 rpm, the car has been into the dealer an they replaced the turbo under warranty (it had been replaced 10 months ago).

Its had a new MAF sensor and they say they have replaced all of the hoses and the sensors (N-75 included Boschmann) They didn't replace N-74 though. Cqn anyone tell me what the N-74 sensor is ?

Basically they want to replace the ECU because as they said there is nothing else it could be. The trouble is it costs £931. Ouch.

SO I'm trying to source a cheaper one. Unless some of you have any better ideas.

One turbo I got from the dealer had a piece of wood jammed in the vacuum port on the banjo fitting that bolts to the intake side housing. It exhibited similar symptoms to what you describe. The splinter evidentally came from the remanufacturer or somehow during shipping to the dealer & was not noticeable. It took me hours to figure out what was going on. I don't like guessing on an item like the ECM, I'd go back over all the vacuum hoses.

Well I got the car back today, its a little better but not much.

I also asked for details of what they did, and he gave me a screen print of the Self Diagnosis. (5051 Check) There were 2 faults in the system.

Turbo/Super Charger Boost Sensor (A) Circuit
Control Limit not reached
sporadic


19561 P3105 035
Change-over valve for intake manifold flap -N239-
Open circuit/short circuit to Ground (GND)
sporadic

They then changed the turbo and did the following (from their work sheet)

5051 Test - No faults
Checked Turbo - OK
Charge Solenoid - OK
All Vacuum Hoses - OK
Intercooler + Turbo pipes - OK
Manifolf Pressure Sensor - OK
Air Massmeter - OK
Air Filter - OK

That was it after this lot VW Technical told them that the ECU needs changing. So anybody see anything obvious missing?

Also there are a lfew firms over here that will "fix" the ecu, I beleif they re-program them. The trouble is I need to take it off, send it to them, and they send it back in a week.

Can I simply unplug it a them plug in back in when it returns. Or do certain things need to be cancelled/reset etc, in the ECU when it returns. ie imobilizers etc.

As long as it's the same ECM you get back everything should just plug back in & be fine.
