My sisters 95 chevy blazer died on her the other day and she had it towed to my house. We just did a engine swap on it and now it wont start. She said when it died the check engine light started flashing and it spitting and sputering then it died. My dad talk to a mecahnic that said to try and start it with some ether. I tried this and it still didnt fire. The only thing we had to swap for the old motor to the new one was the distributor since the guy we bought it form had broke it when pulling the motor. I checked to see if i was getting fuel which it is and i checked for spark off the coil since we broke that too and had to replace it. I never checked for spark off the distributor since it is kinda hard to see while turning the key. I will check this when the wife comes home. But has any body else ever had this problem?

Re: 95 Chevy blazer turns over but wont start
odd problem, Check the basics, Fuel, spark, compression. barring that go to timing loose wires.. etc. something not plugged in all the way after the engine swap? and finally fell or dislodged?

no start blazer
HI,
Have you checked for fuel pressure? many times the pressure regulators on VORTEC 4.3 V-6 engines cause a no start situation. This is because the pressure regulator bypasses fuel back to the gas tank. So make sure you have 55 to 60 lbs of fuel pressure, check with a pressure gauge. Also you can have a fuel pump that is not putting out any pressure also but when getting a new pump remember to get the right one. Regular 4.3's have low pressure systems but the Vortec engine run on a higher pressure system. The pressure regulator is in the intake manifold, you have to remove the throttle body and upper intake to access the cpi unit. if you have problems with rough idle you might even change the cpi injection unit and poppet valves, especially if you have over a hundred thousand miles on it. General motors even warranties the injection on these beyond the factory warranty because they have had so many problems with them. So you can even check with your local dealer to see if they will warranty it. Good Luck, jim |

I hope you can help. I have a 1994 Blazer Vortex 4.3, We have plenty of fuel coming out of the pfzitzer valve. Also the fuel pump runs 6 to 8 seconds after the key is shut off. Does this indicate low fuel pump pressure? The engine runs for about about 3 seconds then won't start for 15 minutes.

Re: 95 Chevy blazer turns over but wont start
If you haven't diconnected the battery, Don't! If the engine check light came on you should be able to tow the truck to Auto-Zone and have them read the codes for you. If you can do this you'll probably save yourself a lot of time, money and guess work.

Re: 95 Chevy blazer turns over but wont start
CPI injector has blown a regulator or the EGR valve has carbon stuck in it.
