My headlights are off (but the little yellow lights below work). Someone said to release the emergency brake! Is this true? I changed the headlight switch and the battery is new and the alternator is fine! What next? Thank you

Thanks a lot for all of your help! So watch does the headlight relay do? How did it make the headlights not work? Cause the highbeams don't either! Thanks

A relay is basicly a switch in itself. When you turn your head light switch on it switches the relay on. The relay has a heavier current on one side of it that it switches to the device (your headlight) to complete the circiut. Saves on the heavier wire and a heavier switch they would have to use in your dash.

Thanks, yeah, :-) I know what it does, but I've never heard of there being a headlight relay, does anyone know the proper name by any chance? Maybe another light has a relay which also controls the headlight. Anyone? Anyone? Thanks a billion!

just a note I forgot to mention...you did check the fuse for the headlights..the light on your swith and dash may still work (dash lights are on a seperate fuse)...there should be a fuse box under your hood and they are usually marked very well as to what circiut they are to..

Thanks! Sometimes you just need to bounce things off someone else to verify what you should know

Okay, I found that it needs a headlight dimmer switch! Do I remove the steering column to replace that? Thank you!
