Problems with 94 S10

Iight this was stupid but anyways, i got a 94 s10 4cyl. And let a friend drive it cause i was sick. SO we are sittin at a stop light and he dumps the clutch and it wheel hops like 15feet. After i told him to stop, the truck acted like it didnt wanna go when u push the gas all the way. And when its sittin still it idles rough. And when u tryt o take off u have to give it a shitload of gas and it still wants to stall out. Can anyone help me with this? Gotta get it fixed before parents drive it again =/. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Problems with 94 S10

first i would visit your friend and smack him like a bitch and give him the repair bill because this might cost you. have the computer scanned for codes first then we possible figure something out from there. pray he didnt damage a cylinder/s! give it a compression test as well.

I'd almost think that he over-reved the motor, and bent a valve, but you'll have to do like Busa 4 sayes to and get it compression tested.

OHHH BOY, if that is the 2.2L listen to the other posts. Wouldn't be the first time someone overreved one. However, is the engine making any noises? If it is, pull the valve cover and inspect the valve train while running the engine. They have been known to have bad lifters.

Re: Problems with 94 S10

Sorry to say this guy, I really don't think that you should even try hiding this from your parents. Even if it's just lifters it'll cost a 70 bux for just the lifters here in Canada, then you'll probably need some new gaskets, and to find someone that'll show you how to do the job. The job isn't that hard but if I hadn't done it before I'd still want someone there to advise me.

Good luck, and please don't let that friend drive any thing of yours until he grows up.

Like mentioned before, do a compression test. You'll probably find 1 cylinder with nothin. In addition to a bent valve stuck open, you might even find a hole in the top of the piston, which would probably be cheaper to find another junk yard motor. If you only find a bad lifter, count your blessings.

With regard to your "friend", with friends like that, who needs enemies. Make sure your friend helps you with the labor & cost. A good friend would at least volunteer that. Also, being a parent of a 16 year old who just got his 1st vehicle (95 s10 lowered). Yep, I'd be pissed and seeing the damage it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what happened. I'd expect he'd tell me, and after walking for a while and paying for the repair out of his own pocket, I'd figure he learned his lesson. You live & learn by your mistakes. Worst you could do is try to hide it. Sorry for the lecture.

Wow, I would punch this so called friend in the jaw.

Make him pay for the repairs also.
