93 2.2 Auto to Manual Tranny swap?
So here is my problem. My auto tranny has been shifting very hard lately and will not shift into fourth gear untill the car is very warm. It also slips between 3 and 4 sometimes when I am driving down the road at a constant speed. I had a local tranny shop look at it and they said it is going to be $800 to fix it. To be honest this car only has 115k miles on it and I do not want to be doing this again in another 115k, so I have been considering changing out to a manual. Does anyone else have any input on this or know someone who has done this? I would love to hear what you have to say. Here is a list of parts I found on another site that should be required to do this.
# 5-Speed Transmission (E153) from 92-93 V6 Camry/ES300 # Flywheel from 92-93 Camry # Mevotech OEM Clutch Kit for 92-93 # Shifter assembly from 94-96 4-cyl Camry # Shifter cables from 94-96 4-cyl Camry # Interior Shifter Trim piece from any 92-96 Camry # Intermediate Right Axle (jack shaft) from 92-93 4cyl # Clutch and Brake pedals from 92-96 I4 Camry # Clutch Master Cylinder from 92-96 I4 Camry # Center Console and E-brake handle from 92-96 Camry w/ Hand Brake # E-brake cable from 92-96 Camry w/ Handbrake # OEM Flywheel, clutch, and transmission bolts The site I got this info from for the the V6 so I modified a few descriptions. I already have the center console e-brake so I guess I do not need another center console? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Justin |
