2002 super duty diesel No trailer running lights

I had a short in my boat trailer running lights only. Now I have no power to the factory trailer connections 4 pin or 7 pin at the running lights connection only. The brake lights and stop connections work fine. The fuse is good under the dash for the trailer running lights which is fuse no 38. Is there a breaker or relay under hood that burned out. I have traced the wire back as for as I can and there are no problems eith the wire or connections.

There is an additional fuse in the underhood fuse box that you should check.

Thank you but, there is no additional fuse box under the hood as in older ford trucks that I or a RV repair shop can find and he is very familiar with ford trucks. Appearently the 2002 is different. Please let me know if there is something we are missing. There is 2 small boxes on the left fender well that has two small things that look like relays to me. I think they are 5 or 6 spade boxes. Thanks, Jim

Apparently he's not familiar enough with them. It's there, on the driver's side right next to the air filter box.

If he still cannot find it, get a new mechanic.

Well, I guess you are not familiar with the 2002 f350 super duty diesels. The ford dealer also said there is no additional fuse box [power distribution center] under the hood. NOT ANYWHERE. There are some relays but they said they are not part of the trailer lights. I removed the complete air cleaner and battery cover just to be sure. I have built several street rods Including complete wiring systems so I have a pretty good idea what I am doing and what I am looking for. I have been tracing the trailer running light wire, thats the brown with white stripe from the trailer plug clear up and through the boby and under the left door sill and It is in perfect condition and working using a test light The only thing I can think of is that it is burned off behind the under dash fuse panel or disconnected some way. Both sides of the fuse of the trailer running light circut are hot so I assume it goes from there to the light switch whitch could also be the culprit. I am a retired fireman and I never smelled anything and I would know if a wire burned under the dash.

Re: 2002 super duty diesel No trailer running lights

My 99 F250 Super Duty and 2000 Excursion both have a small fuse box under the hood. On the X the trailer brakes and turn signal on the right side of the trailer stopped working, fuse. A couple years ago on the F250 I lost all rear brake lights, fuse. Open your owners manual and see what fuses do what or crawl under the rear of your truck and start testing connections.
