alternator interchanging
Do chevy 262's (4.3l, 96 s10) use the same alternators as similar year gm 350CID engines? I can say that from what I've seen they look the same, and it wouldn't be surprising if gm did this to make it easier on theselves.

Ive interchanged different GM altenators some have a higher amp out put. Dont know if you can swap the s10 for the v8 as far as bolting up some look close untill you do. I think the S10 is a lower amperage.

Re: alternator interchanging
I think they are interchangeable for the most part, unless you find a 5.7 with the CS144 alternator(130 amp, I think). But the CS-130 was widely used(100-105 amp) and even with a Cs144 you may only have to change the serpentine belt to get it to fit

Re: alternator interchanging
I'm looking on jegs right now, and I'm wondering if which alternators built for a 350 will fit on the 4.3 if they're interchangable... Do the numbers correspond to the serpantine belt size?

You should be able to put your existing pulley on any Delco/Remy alternator, of the same type.
