HI,check engine light came on,so off to autozone for a free 0BDII test.It read P0340 camshaft position sensor,so i replaced it and reset the light. The light came on after starting it for the second time.resetting the light,it always comes on after the second restart.it doesnt matter how long you wait between starts, always the second.replaced sensor twice thinking maybe a bad one, but still no dice.can someone help?

Re: P0340
when you replace the sensor - what does the syncro look like?

Re: P0340
rivguy,
the '96 2.3l has no snycro.its just a cross shaped sensor which reads a high spot on the auxillary shaft cam gear,or the oil pump gear as others refer to it.Thanks |

Re: P0340
I have the similar problem. I got the cam sensor code. i reset the computer and drove the car 20 miles and no light. I shut the vehicle off and resterted it and the check engine light came on. Truck runs fine. Any ideas? By the way; where is the cam sensor located on the 4.0 engine? hard to change?
