the notorious overhead console...

I have a 96 jimmy and am installing the "mode" computer.

I talked to a guy on AIM who said that there was a main ecu wiring harness that goes under the steering wheel. He said that the dark green wire is the vehicle speed sensor and the purple wire is serial input.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Is this large colorful bunch of wires that harness?

Re: the notorious overhead console...

Thats too wild I just e-mailed you about the wearbouts of the SERIAL DATA and VSS. Rlift say's you need to run to the computer. (both wires)
S-10 Fourms say the VSS at the BLACK side of the main computer is PIN 3. I have not got that far in the install to find out. All I have left are the VSS wire and the SERIAL DATA. I am getting temp for like 60 sec then goes -- I think it is trying to update and the other wires are not connected I will know more later today.

Yes, but 3 is for the cruise which is 9000 pulse where as pin 4 is 4000 pulse which is the proper freqency...

Ok got everything hooked up went to pin 4 drk/grn for VSS and pin 11 ppl for serial (Yellow). Air temp sensor reads for about 60 seconds then goes --. I start the truck and it appears then quits. It is showing 99mpg ave and 375 gal used then they too also go to the --. I don't know what I could have done I have all good connections that I know of. And yes my compass is also reading C and will not calibrate.

Yea I did that I drove around and around and around. Do I have to hold the buttons while I am driving. Everything goes blank after 60 secs. If I do hold it it goes to 8 and the reboots and still has the C
