Z06 vs. Cobra R

here is the Cobra R

well very nice, it does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, and a quarter of 12.9 seconds. It can generate 1 g on the skip pad. It is full of many aftermarket parts. Here is an excellent site for ALOT more:

Here is the Z06:



It does 0-60 in 4 seconds flat, a quarter of 12.5 seconds, and gets 1 g. It is also 10 grand less than the cobra R, which doesnt have all the luxury amenities the Mustang has. The mustang rides REALLY rough, the corvette rides OK, but doesn't let that interfere with handling.

So, here it is: Corvette-faster,cheaper,nicer. Is it really that hard??

Oh, both have 385 hp and 385 lb-ft of torque.
The vette has a 5.7L engine, the Cobra R 5.4L.

they are two different cars...
the cobra is a race car, the zo6 is a street car... both cars are great... for the street iwould take the vette, but if i am racin, its the r

I take the Z06 whether it's for the street or the strip, or the track, or the garage, or whatever. It's a better car, hands down. The only thing the Cobra R has that the Z06 doesn't is a higher price tag, worse looks (although great), a stripped interior, and the exclusivity factor. The Z06 kills the R in performance, so why shouldn't it be a better track car? Besides, if you really are going to race it, get the Z06 and use the $ you save to tweak the suspension and add a few ponies.

Corvette for me, easy choice.

when the cars were compared on speedvision, the r was quicker on the track, b/c it has a race derived susp on it... not saying it is always better, but it did fare better on that track... the tires help too... kd ta's handle like glue...

But for 10 grand you could change Z06's tires and wheels and the suspension.

but i like the raw style of the cobra

the zo6 is so refined... smooth... the r is raw and mean...

Of the two, I'd take the Z06. Among the reasons not to get the Cobra - Its built by Ford. I'll never own anything that they make. Even Jaguars are off the list. The engineering is piss-poor.

I like the Cobra R. I guess it's the wing on the back. Too bad red is it's only color.

hard to fault a Jag xk8.. i don't know if its fair to judge Aston Martin, Jaguar, or Land Rover by prejudices one might have about the nameplate that carries the corporation's logo... I mean, would u not buy a MB SLR b/c you once had a bad experience with a neon as a rental car? its a fair comparison.... fomoco/chevy arguments always have a truck or ponycar or racing root... they rarely fold over onto genuine trends in the company.

So far, the vote is split. But as others have said, the Vette has better performance all around, and on many tracks. PLus it does it in leather, CD, all the luxury stuff of a regular corvette. The R is missing many luxury stuff (who says going fast shouldn't be a little nice, withness all the supercars, 550, Diable, XJ220, etc)
And, you can use the 10 grand you save for, say, a blower, suspension bits, and new wheels/tires. Moral, you could strip a vette, add 10 grand in mods, and have a way better car than a R.

The R may be raw, but if it isn't faster, its just STUPID!!! Thats what I have to say
