Need To Know If My Car Has A Rev Limiter

hi im pretty good with cars, but when i bought my car the dealership did not tell me if it has a rev limiter and i asked and they did not know they said they THINK it did, well i dont want to risk my engin on thinking, i have done a couple burn outs and the car revs up so fast ive put it at 6500 rpms twice befor i could switch gears, i have a 2004 cavalier 5 spd its a basic model how can i find out if it has a rev limiter without reving it up to see?

Re: Need To Know If My Car Has A Rev Limiter

Same here, didn't know if mine had one till I tried, mine's a 92 and it does have one. I think almost all new cars have rev limiters, some are different than others, like my friends Sentra, it redlines at around 6,500 in gear but when in neutral it bounces off the revlimiter at about 4,000. Just put it in neutral and hold it down for a second, you'll hear it bounce.

Note: this is not good to do often so don't show all your friends. My friend loved to get in his Sentra, crank it up, and put it to the floor, then I told him that the ECU cuts out the injector pulse to slow it down and eventually it can damage his motor, he stopped doing it.

^^^.. You betcha!... I've seen cavs/sunfire boosted who haven't even hit the rev limiter in the traps... and some who have touched that 11 sec mark but do not have a 4 cylander in their car... Its those who have doen the 3400/turbo or 3800 S/C or Turbo swap that are touching those speeds... Unless you know what your doing and have taken the precaution to safely do it, you don't need to know how to do it.. And those who have upgraded already know how to do and don't post about it.... witnessing a guy and family die before on interstate 81 when i was 13 yrs old is enough to convince me, saftey is # 1

Re: Need To Know If My Car Has A Rev Limiter

They know how to take it out, but they won't tell you and they will give you shit for asking instead of just saying that they can't tell you. Believe me I know. I would like to know too. Just to let you know. Classicroicjunkie will be a dick about it and they will kick you off. I know from the experience I have had in this web site in the last hour and a half. They know and they are being a bunch of player haten dick heads. So spare yourslef the pain and dont ask ok. I want to just be better then the other guy just like you. They don't realize that. They can't just be nice about it and just say they can't tell you. They want to protect the knowledge they have and that is understanable. So i hope you know and when I do find out I will post it up on this web site because it is a FORUM not mom and dad trying to tell you what to do.

And it will take me about 10 seconds to delete it. But Im not worried, you cant post any other garbage if you cant post at all.

And by the way, if we post it, and you kill yourself, AF is liable. Get a dictionary and look up what that means.

Have a nice vacation, see you in 3 weeks.
