1992 3300 engine problem

1992 old cutlass ciera 3300engine 50,000miles. Car suddlenly stalls and has trouble restarting. Check engine light will come on and the fan turns on. While driving with diagnostic tool hooked up it seems to work fine for a bit. And then will run rough, check engine light will come on and it will looses connection thru the data port. Seems like it might almost be a grounding problem or electrical short. Please any help would be great.

hey buddy,
Have you check into your ignition system, your wires, spark plugs, DIS packs, igntion module? best bet is to start there before anythng else.
