Fuel System

Im planning on upgrading my fuel system in the near future...anyone have any recomendations on manufacturers...depending on the price of the pieces i might buy each one individually so is there one piece i should buy before another or is it best to upgrade the whole system at the same time? I am mainly looking for a rail and injectors to start with and the fuel pump was gonna come later so i guess what im asking is...what is the best?

Re: Fuel System

i'd say first step, would be pressure regulator & filter, then injectors, then pump. a fuel rail really isn't necessary (at least so i've been told a number of times). there's no point in gettin a pump first, if u can't push anymore than the factory one already is. and no point in higher flowing injectors again if u rn't getting more fuel than the oem regulator & filter are letting thru. that's how i would do it anyway.

Re: Fuel System

do you have mods that require more fuel? If not, don't waste your money on it.

Re: Fuel System

no i dont have too many mods that require more fuel but a few of the components are starting to go south...im not sure exactly which ones are going bad so i was gonna change out the whole system, i do know that i have a very small crack in my fuel rail so that needs to be changed very soon.

Re: Fuel System

just replace what is damaged. otherwise, if you want an updraded fuel system, is there a particular major mod that you plan on going towards? Also, what is going bad?

Re: Fuel System

well within a few months i plan on swapping my engine, although im not really sure which engine i am going to get, so i wanted to start upgrading a few things now so i wont have to worry about it when i do the swap, as for what is going bad...like i said i have a small crack in my fuel rail, my fuel line is slightly bent and my injectors are starting to go..i've already replaced one injector i got from a parts car a friend of mine has...i just figured if i had to replace certain peices i might as well upgrade them instead of buyin OEM.

Re: Fuel System

Get a Walboro 255lph fuel pump, that's all you'll need if you're doing a bigger swap. If you want to replace your stock pump with another stock one, stealerships and junkyards will only sell the entire fuel tank assembly.

I know this because I've tried.. the stealership wanted like $300 or something ungodly, so I got a whole tank from a junkyard for $110 and pulled the pump out of it, when all I (desperately) needed was the filter for the pump. I think Walboros go for $200 or so new.

Re: Fuel System

I can tell you now you won't need a fuel rail until you reach 400+hp, and the stock fpr's are good for way past that.. Those parts are just for show. You'll need a new pump for a B/H-series swap, and injectors with either an FMU or some kind of fuel management system like a VAFC etc.. with boost.

Re: Fuel System

if he wants to swap he shouldn't be spending any money on it at all. just replace the parts with factory parts and save the money for your swap. No sense in spending money on something you aren't going to keep.
