Unhappy 91 sunbird heat and starting

i have a 91 sunbird. it has a few problems that I'm not sure if they are related or not. the switch for the heat in the cab works some times the others you turn it on and nothing. i dont know if related but seem when the car starts hard it doesn't want to come on. the car starting hard to me seems like not getting fuel. you have to pump the crap out of the peddle to get it to start, sometimes i have to go under the hood to crank on the throttle linkage (seems to work dont know why) i also get a check engine light off hand I'm not sure what it was something along the line of high voltage on i thought the temp sensor. its my girlfriends car and i dont want her stranded this winter so I'm hoping to get it fixed. I'll get back with the exact computer codes. thanks much!!!!!!!!!!!

With my 91 Sunbird 2.0 I had that same problem. I thought the sensor went bad so i replaced it.. It ended up being a wiring issue. Once the coolant temp sensor started working properly the car starts like a dream now... And for the heater problem I'm not sure about that but if anyone knows it'd help me too because that started doing that to me the other day.

I had the same heat problem, sometimes the heat would go on sometimes it wouldn't. I had the temperature relay switch changed and it works fine.
