Part Time Heater,Full Time Pain

Hey i have a 1997 Crown Victoria, and the heater works whenever it wants to.The dash has been making a clicking noise, wich sounds like somthing spinning in a slow circle, and each time it reaches a certain point in the circle,it makes a popping noise.Sounds like its in the dead center of the dash, like right behind the Stereo. If you get in the car early in the morning,it works just fine.Until you turn the car off.when you turn it back on again, the heater has died ,even though the car is warmed up to a normal op temp.If it was a later model chevy,i would change the little piano shaped device that controls the trap door, but this is my first ford dash with this problem so>if anybody has any advice, plese by all means post it.Its startin to get cold...

The blower works, just no heat?

If so, the blend door motor has likely gone bad, or the drive is broken. I ahve never had to do one, but I know the heater cores are a royal pain.
