i ditched the Bose system for my good ole panasonic head unit which has now been installed in 3 different cars. i love it. cost me about $500 about year and a half ago though. but nice. i think the model number is like HXE-2083U, its the ghost face, touch screen panel. i should know it beings i had to send it back because it overheated itself. never had a problem since though.

then i have 4- 5.25" infinity kappas all the way around. sounds muy excellente.

if i ever decide to add a stereo system, i will probably make myself a custom fiberglass box with the amps sitting below plexiglass for a nice clean look and not too much weight. mount some tweeters in the pillars. but i do like those custom boxes and amp rack alot. looks clean.

BTW: not too sound like a sales rep but audiobahn makes some of the best audio equipment ever. never had a complaint with them, except they are bit pricey but its worth it. you want SPL, its the only way to go. if want a nice classy clean sound, there cheaper line will destroy most anything on the market in sound quality. they make some amazing stuff.

i dont care for the solobaric's. alpine is a great company. i would take alpine's of kicker. i dont care for alpine's head unit, just because i dont like all that green. but their sound quality is above par. i would put them above kicker. but in my own experiences, audiobahn destroys ever sub on the market. the only sub that compared was the JL W7 against the audibahn flamed Q. and that wasnt even audibahn's best sub.

Re: Car Audio system

never had an audiobahn i should try em out sometime but i really want the Alpine type Rs, i have had sony explodes, california profiles, pyramid, mtx, and kicker, all 12s except the pyramids those were 8s, but amps my rockford fosgate was good powerwise but kept on cutting out, i had a pyramid that fuckin blowed, i had a sony x plode that xploded , a lil ass Baja that was well worth 35 bucks, and 2 sound storm labratory 1000 watt amps, pounded 4 subs really loud and deep, i had a Kenwood cd deck before my alpine, and it was okay, i dont mind the green screen for the alpine, i need to get a new cd deck soon tho its crappin out

yeah get the alpine type r's. they are definitely a good buy. clarion makes some of the better cd players. they were the first.

yeah...rockford fosgates have a tendency to over heat under extreme use. but thats not unpredictable. i have had very good experiences with volfenhag amps. some german company but they make some nice amps. have internal fans built in to keep their cool. good sound, good power, and they are very inexpensive. if you are interested, i will give you a website for a great company that has some VERY cheap stuff.

if you cant tell, i used to be really into car audio. there was alot of people that went around beating shit off walls but you couldnt hear any treble along with that base. everyhting was distorted even inside the car where you couldnt hear the trunk rattling. not to brag or anything but i have pieced together some prestine sounding stereo systems for a few people.

all as anybody needs for bass is 2 12" audiobahn flame Q's powered by a high powered intake series amp by audibahn, ran at .75 ohms. that is mind shattering. and then to have enough power running through 6 infinity kappa speakers. if that isnt loud enough for you, then you are already deaf. and if you turn it down and it aint the best sounding music you have ever heard you ears are rattling from the previous test of turning it all teh way up.

BTW: i havent heard of the macintosh amps but im sure they are good. if its made by a computer company i dont understand how it couldnt be good.

Re: Car Audio system

you want a powerful amp? here ya go

http://www.jbl.com/car/products/prod...er=GTI&cat=AMP

i can personally vouch for the amazing power of kicker's solobaric line of subwoofers... one 15" L7 in the right box with the right amp will simply destroy most sets of 2 12's and almost any other 15" that you don't pay 2+ thousand dollars for... the technology speaks for itself.... for example... an 8"... yes 8.. 8 inch solobaric sub hit 147.5 db... that's some pretty amazing stuff.. if you don't believe me

http://www.kicker.com/ShowPage.cfm?f...e=03krazy8.htm

i'm currently looking at audiobahn for my next system.. want to go something more along the lines of sq rather than spl

Re: Car Audio system

i would love to have a stereo system like the pic posted in the first post, but i don't feel like dropping that much money on a stereo. right now i have the stock speakers and a $400 kenwood head unit. if i ever upgrade my stereo, i will probably just replace the stock speakers and MAYBE get one 10" sub.

you know alpine makes head units with blue lights. i have one that was made about three years ago i think, i'll take some pics. the older rockford fosgate amps never had any problems with over heating or cutting out, i have (4) first model punch 150s, those were the best and most reliable amps i've ever had. i have a nakamichi cross over and haven't decided which speakers to use, thinking about using the mb quart seperates. one of the things you have to remember about the subs, you don't want to just go with the ones with the highest db level, you want to get as much info about the quality sound it makes. i will probably go with some rockford fosgate p3 subs. also, i looked everywhere for a stereo adaptor to install my alpine and finally found one, while waiting i pulled the bose out and realized that i could bolt the brackets that were on the bose to the alpine so when the adaptor comes in i won't be using it. one thing i do need it to find an adaptor for the antenna plug. i'll try and post some pics today.

yeah...the one with the blue lighting is the only alpine i would buy unless it the all-in-one. but alpine's best decks come in that green with the oversized panel. ehh.....i just dont care for the look of their cd players. i think panasonic makes some of the best decks but thats just my opinion.

Re: Car Audio system

i really like the new rockford fosgate decks... they're powerful, sleek, tons of options and very easy to use.. my buddy got one of those new alpine decks for his prelude... looks decent, easy to use as well.. good subwoofer control as well. the only decks that i really don't like that i've got experience with are the sony xplod ones... they look like crap imo and don't have many options on em... and the fact that i fried one trying to install it in my buddy's toyota truck..... that thing was a bitch.. even the guys at the stereo shop had a really hard time getting it to work... and even after that, only his front 2 speakers worked.

oh and for anyone wondering... i used 6.5" speakers in my z and they fit perfectly...

we should get a car audio sticky going

yeah thtas how mine his. my touch screen face will change between any color you can think of. you can make your only color by mixing colors, pretty cool. plus it sounds freaking awsome. the new panasonics have so many features is unbelievable. its like a built in mulit-way crossover. but the new ones are kinda hard to use, IMO.
