Engine oil & service parts replacement

I have just got a full new 318i, the dealer said it is not necessary to change and replace the service parts including engine oil, air filter, oil filter until 24000km. I wondered normal Japanese car need free check for the initial 1000km and 5000km. Anyone have any idea or practice experience??

Re: Engine oil & service parts replacement

im not exactly sure how many miles those km transalate to but i do know that in newer bimmers you can go 100k miles before fluid and filter changes. except oil, that is changed every 15000k miles if using synthetics.

im not aware of any 318 being released as of late, unless its not in the US. what year and development series is it?

Re: Engine oil & service parts replacement

well, all i know is that is what one of the "great" things BMW said about it's M50 line of engines and its varients. . . i change my oil every 3000 miles, and i change the filter at the same time, however i do have an older model. air filters in bimmers typically do not need to have to be changed or cleaned too often since they dont suck air right out of the engine compartment, but from behind one of the headlight assemblies. . .

Re: Engine oil & service parts replacement

i also remember reading that BMW says that the differential fluid is good for the life of the car, however, i change that periodically, as well as the tranny fluid and coolant.
