tranny problem in 5th
a few days ago i was driving on the highway in 5th gear and it popped out of gear just outta nowhere. i put it down into 4th and back into 5th. about 4 miles later it did it again. some might say that the syncro's in 5th are going out, and others may say its the clutch, but if anybody else has an opinion let me know what it could be. thanks for the help...

Re: tranny problem in 5th
could be a bent shift fork or messed up linkage too. Just get under the car and scope things out.

Re: tranny problem in 5th
you dont need 5th gear anyway... just keep it in 4th on the freeway, mine does 70mph in 4th gear at 3500 rpm's. 5th gear just saves you 500 rpms.

LoL. Yeah, but its just a problem that needs fixed though. My thing is I don't want it to start messing up the other gears too so I'm gonna get it fixed. PLUS, when you redline 4th gear while racing a Jetta on the highway, you need somewhere else to go, lol....

hmm somewhere else to go, oh like when a hatch swerves into your lane and almost kill you causing you to crack your front bumper and almost wrap your car around a telephone pole....... oh yea i can relate...........
