2 more problems!

ok, i have a little bit of black smoke coming out of my exaust, could it be from not changing the oil? i think she's a lil overdue on a oil change.
also when im driving and i come to a stop sign, she goes from 1000rpms to about 750, then drops to 500, then dips below 500 and almost dies on me, and when im in drive and at a stop light she's shaking like she wants to give out, and she already did give out ONE time.

Re: 2 more problems!

black smoke sounds more like fuel, sounds like an IAC or a ignition problem. probly the IAC valve.

Re: 2 more problems!

idle air control valve; located in the throttle body, allows air to bypass the throttle plate to control the idle speed of the car.

no, that means there's a code stored, check for codes and you'll most likely pinpoint your problem. and for christ sake change the oil.

Re: 2 more problems!

geno is right, clean oil is the lif of your engine, my mom had a 85 z28 she never changed the oil, i think it went like 25,000 miles before its oil was changed and thats sad, it was new too, and around 75,000 miles it started leaking oil, and also had to be rebuilt, and the cyclinder walls cleaned up.

Re: 2 more problems!

might want to think about oxygen sensors as well--but follow Genopsyde's advice--take the car to Auot Zone and they will run codes for FREE!!! the car's computer WILL tell you whats wrong, most of the time

Re: 2 more problems!

ok!! i think i got it figured it out, i called my uncle and i explaind it to him! and he told me that it was the wire caps that goes to the spark plugs, he said that one might have came loose, well i checked it and one snapped in! and i started it up and it seems to run fine! could that have been the problem?

Re: 2 more problems!

if it fixed it, sounds pretty likely dont really know why it would have done all that, it should have just had a dead miss.

Re: 2 more problems!

code 43 - TPS (Throttle position sensor) out of adjustment OR knock sensor signal error OR low voltage at electronic spark timing control.

sounds to me like your TPS is failing from how you explained your symptoms.
