Picked up 2 subs and an amp today, i bought the car with an alpine head unit and all speakers replaced with alpines; today got 2 10" alpine type E subs w/ boxes, a Bazooke ELA300.1 amp, and wiring for a very good price; question is will I need a capacitor? just thought of it; would this drain too much power?

yeah im with Geno on that one.. shouldnt mix different subs.. If you really want to use them all though, I suggest building a box with seprate chambers for each sub, and have a differnt amp for each set of subs.. still not a good idea though..

i built a tub box that holds my 2 10" type r's.. And ive had them that would hold 2, maybe even 3 12's.. To get 4 twelves in the tub box though my box would need some major modification.. 4 12" subs side by side.. plus the divider would be like 4 1/2 feet, way to wide for the back hatch

Re: Audio

there was a time when I had 4 12's in my camaro, 1998 I think it was. they sat 4 across and they were in a big box in the back seat facing forward, it was the only way it fit, sound quality was crap, I didn't have it for very long. If you talk to the guys at a car audio shop, they'll tell you that only 2 12's will give you the best sound, because with any more you really won't be able to tell the difference. something with airspace and the way the sound travels.

Re: Audio

because 10's provide a much tighter more responsive bass, 12's are more for rap, hip-hop, etc.. music with loud deep base

im more a fan of 8's or 10's..

Re: Audio

werd, i was testing him. 10's move faster and are better for the rapid percussion of rock and such. 15's are best for the loud deep bass, and 12's are in the middle and have a little bit of both qualities.

Re: Audio

no actually it dosent matter what size subs u use for better response, its all in the sub its self and it frequency response for the higher bass notes, also its in the type of box u build if ur gonne listen to rap build a bandpass or a bix sealed enclosure, and if ur listening to rock i would build a ported enclosure w/ the ports tunned much higher for good sq. and as for the four twelves its possible but it will be hard to fit them straight across the well i belive im building a box this tuesday for three 12s w/ about 1.25 cf per sub and its gonna be loud. and as for the building seperate chambers for the subs its a good idea for many reasons. one because if one sub blows the others wont be getting to much air. and two w/ different kinds of subs, they will fight for air and it could be bad for them and if nothing else sound horrible

Re: Audio

$20 says if you put a 10 next to a 15, with the same amp, wires, head unit, and rapid paced percussion song, the 15 will have a delayed response compared to the 10.
