Installation

My first install. Isn't to clean, but i'm happy with it. Any reccomendations for the port? I was thinking of spray painting it black, and putting L-shaped plastic things around the rim of it.

Re: Installation

paint the port. Also you can flip over the ED logo without unscrewing the amp

Re: Installation

No, but i would definately be careful and tape off the carpet......that wouldn't look too good if you got the carpet painted......but very nice for ur first install i bet it slams.

Re: Installation

that is a port, damn am i imcompetent. i thought that was just un overed MDF. ya just paint it. silicone fumes are about the only thing you will have to worry about when doind installs unless your are cleaning up exta paint (who paints the intererior of an enclosure any way?) with acetone or something. and even still most companies are now coating their foam surrounds with chemicals that make them resistant to even high concentrations of corrosive vapors.

but if you are still worried just tape the inside of the port shut if you can fit your hands down there. than just paint away. spray paint will do just fine. just remmeber to remove the tape if you do tape the port shut before you crank thoes bad boys up agian.

Re: Installation

Woah yea invest in some 12 AWG....Also are the subs single 4 ohm wired to 1 ohm? If so re-wire either run all of the subs independantly to the amp and hook them all in the +'s and -'s (looks like you have 2 pos and 2 negs on there.....they both go to the same place) Or at least wire 2 subs then have 2 sets of speaker wires goin to the amp. They way you have it now will give the first sub and second sub what i like to call "first power" meaning they will get more power then the last sub.....don't believe me go watch them hit.....the one wired first will move slightly more then the one wired last.

ED doesn't make single 4 ohm Either dual 2 or dual 4

Re: Installation

eitherway. if they are parallel they are all getting hte same power. and in order to make 4 4ohm subs make a 1ohm load...you have to wire them parallel...

but yes thanks for pointing that out to everyone Halibane.

peak you'll probably have around 40a flowing on a 1ohm load.
12-10 guage will do fine.

No one can spell my name right, let alone pronounce, I guess I should change it.
