2003 headlight R&R

Hi everyone this is my first time posting here. Seems like a cool site. I just found it today. I've never had a problem with my car so I have never had to look for this kind of site.

So here is my question.
Can anyone tell me how to remove the headlight assembley on a 2003 Taurus SES. I am trying to upgrade the bulbs to Silverstars. I think I could just remove the battery to replace the drivers side, but the other side is really hard to get to. Do I even need to remove the assembley or is there an easier way?

Thanks in advance,
Jim

You should be able to buy the bulbs that plug in directly to the existing light assembly. It's just a twist off connector on the back side of the assembly, turn half a turn and pull. Make sure not to touch the bulb when putting it back in, any grease or contaminant on the bulb will cause it to break when it heats up. If you need more help with removing the bulb let us know and I can take a closer look, and give you a better step by step aproach.

Good luck!

Denis

On a 2000 there are , I think three bolts (I don't have my car here right now) (MAKE SURE NOT TO REMOVE THE AIMING BOLTS)

and two clips that you pull straight up. The whole assy will come out.

Ouch, I was looking at my Taurus tonight, it looks like a bitch to get to the drivers side bulb. Lokks like you're going to have to use Mike's method. I guess as always the engineers don't work on the vehicles they just make syre the parts are all installed in a nice TIGHT package.

Sorry to any engineer I might have offended
