Rouge Vacuum Hose

I doubt anyone will be able to give me an answer, but i'll give it a shot. I have a L98 350 on a 88 formula 350 firebird. At the back of the engine, right where the egr solenoid bolts down theres a mechanism of some sort that has two vacuum lines coming out of it. One line goes to the EGR itself and the other goes to the intake plenum if i remember right. Well on the other end of the mechanism there is what looks like an input vacuum connection and it has two clips to hold whatever vacuum line goes in there. Anyone know where that line is supposed to come from that goes in there?? Thanks for any help!

Re: Rouge Vacuum Hose

Thats a EGR solenoid. it gets triggered by the ecm and sucks air from the Valve and run's it into the intake manifold

Re: Rouge Vacuum Hose

Ok i'm a little confused...The EGR Valve sits on the intake manifold and has a vacuum line that comes out of it and goes to the solenoid, correct? There's another vacuum line coming from the solenoid that runs to the throttle body. And there's a third connection on the back of the solenoid that I don't know where it goes. Trying to clarify, i'm lost.

Re: Rouge Vacuum Hose

The egr is a valve. A valve is meant to open and close. The ecm trigger's the solenoid which sucks the valve open which allows small amounts of exhaust from the intake manifold to pass through a hose from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold. This whole system is powered by vacuum pressure. Here is a site going into some more detail on the operation of a egr system.

Re: Rouge Vacuum Hose

well i guess its safe to say your egr system is as worthless as the day it was born. You might as well not worry about it,cause its a big waste of time and performance

Re: Rouge Vacuum Hose

I need an inspection, wayy overdue ... but assuming i can find someone to slap a sticker on there. Do I need to do anything to skip the EGR system, like block off plates or is it as easy as unplugging it?
