setting idle speed

i am in my never ending quest to have a good running car. my new problem is gettin this thing to run smoothe without stalling in first gear. i have done a complete rebuild on the carb. but i still can oly get it to drive semi decent at like 1200 rpm . it doesnt stall there. i have checked for vacuum leaks and still it wont idle at anything less than 1200 . how might i fix this problem.

Re: setting idle speed

There are other things that can affect the idle other than the carb. Have you looked at the ignition points, timing, valve adjustment, plugs etc....
