1996 sentra w/ 200sx engine into sr20det

Just wondering what all i'd need to turn my 96 sentra W/ 200sx engine into a sr20det. I've heard lotsa hype but no one with real answers. I'm just interested in looking into the total cost before I start out on this project. I'm not sure if i t would be worth it to by an engine and swap it, or just get my current engine bored out and total redone. Any info would help and be greatly appreciated.

which engine do you have specifically? The 200sx came with the ga16 and the sr20 in the different models

I'll have to ask the dealer, I went and checked the engine it reads twin cam 16 valve, i don't know if that helps or not.

both of them are DOHC and both are 16 valve, so no that doesn't really help. If it's the stock motor there should be a sticker on the underside of your hood that says what engine it is

i think it's just a g16 the previous owner told me that he swaped the engine with a 200sx engine, But i'm guessing thats just a 1.6 also, oh well I guess i'll only be able to get 230 hp instead of 3 something, When I'm done. I was wanting to have an sr20det under the hood, but I don't know if I'll have the cash to put into all the other sr parts in the engine.

if it is an sr20, then look at the injectors on your fuel rail, you can see them without removing them, if they are red then i do believe its an sr20de.................also my sentra has roughly 245hp @ 7psi and around 320-340 at 14psi with my big injectors ive done lots of work to get those numbers they dont just happen, and it will get very exspensive quickly if your not careful.....

245hp @ 7psi and 320-340 @ 14 psi ???? where are you getting your numbers ? just guessing or what. what motor and setup you have.

my friend with the ga16...you have plenty of options. BB motor for 1500 bucks plus small part and labor for 205@ 7 psi with boost controller 13 sec car. or Gtir motor for 2000 bucks 230hp @9 psi boost controller high 12 sec with a few parts.

hotshot has a turbo kit that produces good power on the 1.6

or get a cheap SR20DE US spec and boost that ...my boy just ran 9.98 with that motor.

dont worry about my setup. its not a kit you buy...thats all ill say about that, to many hours fabbing things. and those numbers came from a dyno. different days different temps. temps make the dif. and sorry to say but you wont hit 12's on street tires. and for the cost that your spending on just your motor i spent one the car plus the build up.
if he has an sr then the cheapest most effective way to gain power is to buy a used manifold plus turbo from a det s13/14. get bigger injectors a fuel pressure regulator and a decent I.C. for the money you cant go wrong plus reliability is still there.

p.s. not to be an ass but i dont buy a 9sec pass from your boy unless he was fully built which in that case means nothing because the de block and the det blocks are the same the internals are diff, so if he's built then its not the same......and besides if im not mistaken the fastest track sentra ran in the 10's it was a red b13 thats all i remember

i can see you are a newbie at this SR20 game. i have run 12s on drag radials and so have other people with the set up i mentioned. you said " roughly" and " around" when giving your horsepower numbers. you didn't say dyno. i am not doubting you, curious about your setup. very posssible as a matter a fact. just wanted to know. i have put together a few SR20's ...how many have you put together? take a look at the 9s Se-r.http://www.teamserious.com/forums/in...?showtopic=845

sorry for coming off like i did.. i just get tired of being doubted. i personally have built 3 setups for me 2 on the same car. now between my buddy and i weve built together for others would be 13 i think plus or minus one not including mine. so 16 total. weve done mostly sr swaps in s13. weve done an s13sr into an s14<---hardest one yet. a pulsar. and a sweet g20 but mostly 240's. and you should know that the motors are very very similar so many of the tricks to squeeze out that extra horse can be used on most any version of sr20's......ive also delt with a ca18det which is curently in my s13 and have been contiplating a sr20ve for my newest sentra shell...but thats another story that will be awhile before i decide to go anywhere with the idea. eventually ill get off my tail and start that shop ive been dreaming about for the last 5 years.....
