99 Grand Prix Hood Replacement

My 99 Hood was all cracked up. Found a used 1997 hood and bought it, thinking it was the same. Hood fits well but the 97 uses a prop rod. The 99 has the hood support struts. What's the easiest way to fix this? Right now I have no hood support method.

Re: 99 Grand Prix Hood Replacement

Have you tried snagging a ~97' prop and installing it?

From what I understand, later model 99's had prop rods (and regardless all the 99's still have "prop rod" pressed next to the hole on the underside of the hood where the imaginary prop should go.)

You might want to check around at salvage yards for one of the 99's... but I'm assuming that the engineers aren't spending too much time redesigning these things every year.
