Re: i need new rotors

this is a great deal, wish i would of found it when i was buying new rotors. for $450, you get front AND rear slotted/drilled rotors, front AND rear pads, stainless steel brake lines, and brake fluid. if we buy all that stuff seperate, it would be about $650-$700. here is the link, http://conceptzperformance.com/Cart/...569.76.137.188

dude...you dont even have to worry about it. metal on metal isnt your rotor. its your brake pads. if you drive to long with the metal sound then you might need a new rotor but i doubt it. go to auto-zone, $20 for new brake pads for the front. if you need the back, it wil probably be a little cheaper than the $20. (i have bigger pads on my bicycle than i do the back of me Z).

after that, your gonna need some brake lube and some of that "no squeak" stuff. total, i spent like $23 for the front brake pads.

then beings your hearing metal on metal. take some medium course sand paper and sand down the rough part of the rotor. you should be able to tell by rubbing your fingers across it. if you need help installing them just PM me or ask away. i just installed all 4 on my 90' a couple weeks ago. good luck...

Re: i need new rotors

well i also believe its the rotor because the car wobbles from side to side, but i also need a new rim because one is fractured

wobbles from side to side?...thats more than a rotor, you mean the steering wheel shakes when braking??? yeah, you may need new rotors then, but the metal to metal sound just means you need new brake pads. that brake set that freak gave you is a great deal...but if you look on ebay you can get it even cheaper than that. good luck...

Re: i need new rotors

but on ebay, they probably aren't as good quality, therefore they could crack or something. you get what you pay for. where is your wheel fractured at?

yeah i think i got a bend on the inside of one of my wheels from a pothole. im thinking about taking it up with the city.

but still thats not bad...so without pads. probably $50-70. i might have to look into that, machine shops can make slotted rotors right. im just assuming that is basically how they make slotted rotors, right?

Re: i need new rotors

they can but buy a quality brand rotor first, other wise they may crack or warp.

how hard you think it would be to custom make your own big brake kit??? i always thought about it. like seriously the only hard part would be getting the caliper remounted, right? im not saying that i can do this with a standard hammer and sockets but im sure it could be done, of you went to the drawing board and designed a new bracket and then go to the metal shopa nd buy yourself a hunk of iron and take it to a machine shop and have them make your blueprint come to life. ehh...maybe im just dreaming. probably end up costing just as much as Z1's big brake kit, anyways. but it would be pretty cool to say i designed my own big brake kit.
