Question BOV chirp is gone...

So I finally cut my BOV dump tube yesterday, put it back in, made sure all the hoses and such are connected. Took it out for a ride and I could immediatly feel the difference from loudness of wastegate to response. However, the 2G BOV sound is practically gone....and before I could hear it between just about every shift, but now its just a faint whooshing sound. Wondering if i cut it too short, BOV is gone??, or if its normal and I should just wait a few weeks until i get the 1G on. Did a search and didnt really get an answer. anyone else with the same problem?

Re: BOV chirp is gone...

nah you didn't cut it too short....i did the same thing when my car was completely stock and the bird chirp from the stock BOV was gone...it helps if you have a K&N filter though...throttle response should be a little better for you though

That mod changes the sound, you found that out. A 1g doesn't sound like a 2g, and will sound almost exactly the same as you have it right now.

Re: BOV chirp is gone...

I'll just let go of the bird....in exchange for better throttle response, which is obvious thats its there. In theory it makes sense, so no worries. Thanks.

i have a 99 GST egine is totaly stock, is there any way to get the BOV to be louder? or is there one thats doesn't release to the atmoshpere thats loud? if i put on a 1g would that be louder? would an intake pipe and filter change the sound of a BOV?

if i were you, i'd get the hks ssq and buy the recirc kit...but to be honest, it sounds much better with it vented to the atmosphere...and my car drives perfectly smooth. doesn't even feel like it's running rich and yes, a 1g would definitely be louder, especially with a K&N and intake pipe...that damn K&N was the best $120 i ever spent on this car lol. you can really tell the difference.

Re: BOV chirp is gone...

the only time you are running rich is in between shifts, not all the time. get a bigger fuel pump and you will start to back fire in between shifts.

an open filter and a hard pipe sound even better.
