Re: maxing out an eclipse

there's a turbo, and a non turbo. if you need more than a few more horsepower, you are looking at a turbo kit, or getting a real car, such as a GSX/GST/TSI.

If you don't know if it's possible to do a manual tranny swap, then you either have to A. pay a shop $6000 or not do it.

The reasoning behind that is the fact that the 420a bang for the buck ratio is NOTHING like the 4g63. You COULD turbo your 2g N/A, but that's spending lots of money just to get to where a mildly modified 4g63 is. Everyone recommends just selling the car because it's just not worth the trouble (unless you have deep pockets).

However, for a nice boost that doesn't cost TOO much, nitrous is a wonderful thing. A friend here has a 75 shot on his 2g N/A, and I must say it pulls pretty hard for what it is. Every now and then he'll throw in the nozzles for a 95 shot just for kicks, and boy that is fun .

Re: maxing out an eclipse

i guess your righti know like everyone else that a 420a wont keep up with a gsx unless you get like a hahn stage 2 or something which i could never afford, but me i just did the basics and its fine with me its not like i go to new hampshire and race or anything but i like the body of my car and the sexyness of it so that alone is why i like mine turbo or not, peace

Re: maxing out an eclipse

There is nothing wrong with owning a N/T there are so many parts for it and they are not all super expensive. You just have to look around for the best deals and take advantage of the companies that do price matches. One of my cars is an N/T and I threw a rod in it, now I am going to put a NEON block in it 420a, but since I need a new motor I am going to bore it out probably .030" over with Eagle forged H series rods and forged racing pistons from JE with 8:8.1 compression, new lifers, 1mm+valves intake/exhaust, crane stage 2 cams and +/-12*gears, 3rd gen lifters for a 4g63, underdrive the accessories, cold-air intake, Venom intake manifold HKS Hyper cat-back exhaust,GReddy headers port and polish, 5 angle valve job, racing plugs/wires, Billit aluminum pulleys on all accessories, Billit alumenum flywheel, Hein 600cc injectors, intake resistor, and an ECU mod-chip. This ran around $2,000(this is only because I am doing most all of the work on my own) on a $2,500 car, so its like a heavy moded car for $4,500, and you could say it has 0 miles on it this brings overall HP up to 300+ on what started as <150HP torque falls just over that at 300+ ft/lbs and started as <140. I want to get the Hahn racecraft turbo kit it costs about $7,000-8,000, but it is so worth it, the power it would have with that is unreal we are talking like 700+ at 18 p.s.i. but I don't think I want to spend that much, i'll probably just go with the super20G on its own and it'll put me back a couple hundred and put at around 500+HP(super 20g's max) at 12-15 p.s.i., i'll end up running 10p.s.i. at 450+ HP, now tell me that is not good for any motor. Laugh it up and put me down now 4g63 owners, but there is serious hidden power in a 420a, you just have to be willing to put mostly the time into it.

Re: maxing out an eclipse

Lol, TalonEsi, not trying to dog on you but those numbers are nowhere near what you'll actually be putting out. Although the setup is pretty nice, don't expect those kind of numbers, because you will not see them. 300HP naturally aspirated will not happen with that motor, even with those mods. Good luck though, looks like a nice setup.
