Angry Problem with Passat

I have a 2001 Passat with a 1.8 engine.(AUG). The problems started at a idle with AC running and now it's all the time. Problem is when stopped and car is in drive. The motor idles up and down and the car jumps forward without touching the gas. Had it checked at a Auto Zone and they stated that no error code were showing. Drove the car next day and the Check Engine lite came on. Also the Emission workshop displayed on the dash board display. Had it checked again and showed the before Converter Oxygen sensor was bad. Can this sensor cause the idle problem too or is there something beside this sensor wrong.

HI,a quick answer to your question-YES,o2 or lambda probe sensors can cause rough idle problems, and the fact that the emission light is on is a good sign there is problems as a fault code is caused when parameters that the o2 sensor is used to are out of range.

Let us know what happens when you get it looked at.
