Re: what is ETS system ?

ETS ( Electronic Traction System ) is suppose to give your car better traction in rain and snow. When it feels your car's tires spinning, it cuts back on the throttle until they grab. It's really mainly just bells and whistles - I only use mine when it's rainy or snowy outside. It robs horsepower and makes it a lot harder to burn out. Deffinately turn it off if you're racing. The last thing your computer needs to be worrying about is tire slippage when it should be worrying about fuel delivery. My overall advice: (ETS - OFF except in snow / rain )

I wouldn't rely on the ETS at all. It's a nice touch on the car, I agree it robs power. It only works OK at times... but it can be quite dangerous when it kicks in OR DOESN'T kick in. I definetly would never trust it in SNOW, you are better off turning it off. For whatever reason mine never works properly in the snow and has caused me to get into an accident with a telephone pole.

Re: what is ETS system ?

ETS on a GA does nothing at all. It's there for peace of mind so when moms are driving their kids around in rain or snow, they are lulled into a false sense of security. SAme thing with jeeps, 4wd SUVs, etc. People have them and think they are impervious.

I've chirped with ETS on and with ETS off. I've spun with ETS on and with ETS off. Personally, I always have mine off. I find it easier to control the car by ~my~ will (other than what computer thinks is best for the 'then and there').

Re: what is ETS system ?

You should just be able to push it firmly once, and then release it. you shouldn't have to hold it down

Re: what is ETS system ?

I went to San Diego a few weeks ago when it was DOWNPOURING. My ETS kicked in, alright...alright for a useless battery draining lightbulb. There was an immense amount of water on the road and The only thing that happened when my tires spun was a light came on that said "LOW TRACTION". I ended up manually relaxing the throttle in order to get ground. I had no idea about it draining power from the engine...does anyone know if it drains power from the battery as well?

It only takes power from your engine and shouldn't effect the battery, if you ever have problems like that with it constantly kicking in, just turn it off it'll making driving that much easier.
