Well I was having problems with my 89 escort and I thought it was the fuel shutoff switch, since I wasn't getting any fuel past the injector, but seems it wasn't that. Then I tought that it was the timing belt and it was. The belt was completely shreaded.
I bought a new belt and I am going to install it. Now I'm wondering, since I cranked the engine several times before, trying to figure what the problem was, would the cranking cause it to be out of time? My guess is yes, but I'm not sure. If it is how would I set it back in time? I couldn't see and marks on the gear bolted to the crankshaft and the camshaft, of course it was getting dark so that could be it.
