Sentra dies while driving

My womans sentra is acting up, so here i am to ask for advice.

Yesterday she had some problems starting the car. It was turning, but just wouldnt start. After 4 attempts, it finally started.

Soon after that, about a mile or so away the car died while she was driving it. She puts it in park, and it starts back up. It happened about 6 more times on her way back home.

Few hours later i drove the car, it did not die, but i felt the engine cough while coming to a stop.

Im assuming this is a fuel delivery problem, since the car cough reminds me of when i was learning to drive stick.

now, is it possible that the problem could be the replaced (due to recall. done about 5 months ago) Crank shaft piston sensor?

She is taking it to nissan on monday, was hoping i could save her some 4 if it was something easy.

Thanks!

Re: Sentra dies while driving

it definitely sounds like fuel problem, unfortunately it's hard to tell the difference between a clogged filter, bad pump, etc without getting in there and checking them all out. The dealer would probably be the best bet, is it still under warranty?

Yea, thats the bummer of it all. Aroudn $80 for them to look at it. Oh well, its the nature of the beast.

Is it true that the crank shaft piston sensor adjustable?

Any luck with changing the fuel filter. My car was having similar trouble and the dealers trying to tell me I need a new ECM. I went to pick it up from the dealership to try a tune up first, and the car is completely inoperable now. They told me I need to tow it off the lot, or replace the ECM. Just curious if maybe it's only a fuel filter.

here is an update. We took the car to the dealer, their computer could not find any problems...told us they are going to replace the computer, because it should be giving an error. We have to wait 4 days for the computer to arrive.

2 days later the check engine light comes on, and now wont even start. We tow the car in, luckily the computer already arrived. They replaced it, and now it works fine!

All this was under warrenty.
