I'm trying to install a custom grill for my 88 Accord LXi bumper but I'm not sure how to remove the bumper to do this.

im not sure how it is on an accord, but on my rex, their are 4 bolts underneath and 2 bolts and two screws on top that need to be removed in order to get it off.
Best bet is to pick up a service manual for your car, Helms, Haynes, or Chiltons.

Late reply, but on a 88 Accord: remove the bumper turn signals by taking out the screws that are accessible from the fog light holes (get on your back and look up through the hole); they are phillips head, only one per light, on the outer corner of the lights, and you will need a slightly longer length screwdrivers to get in there. After taking the screws out, pull the light out slightly, and pull it towards the outer corner side of the bumper; the inner part is a clip, rahter cheaply made, so be careful! After you remove them, you will see two bolts, one on top of the other, behind the light. Remove these two bolts. The bumper should fall off, support, skin, and all.
