It was an 04 ecsb silverado on the bottle. He went 13 flat on that run, so it was pretty dang quick. I don't know what other mods he had, but that big sucker was moving!

Cool video, and nice run, but man you could have got out of it against him and won the race! Looked like you beat him to the finish line by a mile.

Dont get me wrong, I'm not taking anything away from your run, it was very nice, 12.67 is fast in anything, truck or not, lol but being a fellow bracket racer, it looked like you had him if you would have just lifted!

Good run though, congrats on the mid 12s!

Yeah, I know I could have lifted on him. A few buddies of mine were giving me hell about my previous 13 run(traction trouble), so I was getting a 12 if it killed me. I honestly didn't think it was going to be a 12.6 at that part of the day. I figured it was too warm to get a best time, but I was wrong. That was also my first time at the track with the new setup, so I was basically test and tuning anyways. It was a great time for me. The funny thing about these trucks and bracket racing is that the stock, slightly modified trucks almost always win the bracket races. These things are really consistant! The only thing consistant with my truck right now is the 106mph trap. I'm hoping for some low 12s this weekend. We have a North MS vs South MS shootout Saturday. I'm hoping for a truck class, but it looks like I'll be getting paired up with alot of LS1s and mustangs. I love heads up racing!

Well, I heard that. My season's over with. Last race was Sunday and I never went becuase of wore out slicks. Other tracks are still racing, but it would be stupid for me to race and risk having a flat and wrecking the car.

Being fast in bracket racing is not always good, like you said. Usually, when you get really fast, you get really unconsistant (unless you drive a rail). Being fast has its advantages though, like lane choice, lol. I'd like to pick up 2-3 tenths where I race.

Well, good luck this weekend, and post your results for the rest of us to see!

Is racing pickup trucks really a popular event? I never heard of such a thing. I always assummed that cars like camero's, corrvette's, and other sport cars where designed for racing. I think of a truck as being.....you know something to throw your crap in, take your dirt bikes out, pull your boat...etc. If I want a 1/4 mile runner I'll get something with alot more power to weight ratio and much better areodynamics.

Good for you. What do you drive now? Just asking because you obviously have a beast of a vehicle to be ripping on me. My power to weight ratio isn't as bad as you think. I weighed in at 4300lbs and am well over 400hp to the wheels. Plus, I can "throw all my crap in it, and my fourwheeler", and still probably beat a new mustang down the track.

12.60s??? I'd say you'll probably beat MOST Corvette C6 drivers down the track, along with a few Z06s, lol, let alone the 13.80 or so Mustang, with professional magazine test drivers at that, lol.

You know, trucks were once good spleepers, lol, but anymore, they are as popular as muscle cars. Where I race, they are several S-10 race trucks (true, these are full fledge drag trucks, meaning track only, but still). They run good times too, like 4.80s in the 330, which would equate to mid 11s or so in the 1/4.

A friend of mine used to have an S-10 race truck that would go 4.20s at this track, and that would be getting dangerously close to high 9s in the 1/4, well, not really, probably more like 10.10s-20s, but still, lol.

I wasn't trying to put you down, I just never thought of a truck being a drag racer. All I have is a 1968 SS396 El Camino and a 1998 Silverado Z71 both are completly stock. I don't race either one, you would smoke both of these easy, but like I said I don't race (no place to race here). Sure I used to street race in high school. But after too many citations for "speed contest) I changed my ways.

Cool, man. The main reason I decided to go this route was that I've always been a truck and more importantly a GM man. Trucks are very popular around where I live, as are mustangs. There's nothing better to me than smoking them at the track and leave them wondering what just happened.Plus, I finally paid off the truck, so the bank doesn't own it, and I didn't want to get into a payment for a sports car.
Street racing is pretty popular here, and I would be lying if I said I never participate in it. I do, however, prefer the track and about 95% of my races take place there. The only street racing I do is on a wide road we have at an abandoned warehouse. No streets connect into it and it is a really controlled environment.
I guess I just really wanted to be different from the local mustang crowd. It's been really fun building the truck and seeing the progress in action.
