Traction Control System
Heres the story:
I'm on Old Dominion Universities Formula SAE team. We had a guy working on a traction control system for quite some time, and after blowing off several dead lines its apparent that we won't be able to rely on him for a decent setup. I want to to design a fairly simple one that I can learn off of and improve upon. Here are the guidelines: Our ECU has a 5v digital wire that when powered can be set to cut ignition. We have already designed and laser cut trigger wheels and installed them on our wheels. We already have sensors mounted. Basically what we are trying to do is run a comparator to sense wheel slip. When this happens we want to send the 5v signal to the ECU to cut power. This is a very crude and simple plan but I'm trying to start somewhere. If there is anyone out there with electronic experience on this or anyone on another Formula SAE team it would be EXTREMELY appreciated if you could lend some advice. (I'll be sure to buy you a round Detroit  ) Thanks!

i guessing taking a old delco or bosch system and rewiring isn't allowed in Formula SAE?

They are, but part of the objective on the competition is to keep cost low on your vehicle. However, I would like to see how they (delco/bosch) did their systems. Would you happen to have a link for any of those systems?

stupid redneck idea i had last night while trying to get my 10 month old son to sleep.
the wheel sensors are mag-pluse right? put them each thru a DC full bridge recifier, attach a IAC to each possitive, assuming the IAC isn't polarity dependent(i don't know if it is) the difference in voltage during wheel spin should open the IAC according to the difference(last time i scoped a ABS sencor is was about 1volt per 8 MPH, and if the IAC works on a range of 0 to 5 volts, thats near perfict in my mind) attach the IAC to a ported vacuum source then the vacuum advance on the distributor. holy shit i thought that up at 2 am with a baby crying? it would be a miracle if that works, but its logical and cheap.
