What tranny do you have now? Make sure the bolt pattern and length are the same...I know thats obvious but sometimes gets overlooked.

the length won't matter if it is the tranny out of the TA.

Also a pontiac is a BOP car (Buick Olds Pontiac) they share the same bellhousing chevy is the odd one.

A welder and a hammer and a drill.everything will fit everything.transmission bolt pattern is the key.i would bolt it all together on the ground first, and make sure the motor and tranny fit together nice and good......

Re: buick 455 in 80 TA

Everyone assumes your TA has an automatic.
If its a 4 spd - forget it. The 455 most likely has no pilot bushing in the back of the crank, so the clutch would not work.
So, if your TA has an auto and had a Pontiac or Olds engine, its an easy swap. Use the Buick engine mounts and just do a bit of welding or drilling to adapt them to the TA frame.
There are very few Buick headers out there, you might have to do a bit of trial and error to find a set that will fit.
Finally, make sure you want to do this. Your TA will be worth much more in the long run if you use a Pontiac engine, even if it's a Pontiac 400 or 455 from an earlier year. A Buick-engined TA is just a bit too strange to appeal to most people upon resale, unless the price is cheap.
