I have a 1991 geo metro 4 door. It has 80,000 miles on it. I got it given to me because the transmission does not pull. The guy who gave the car to me said that the transmission pulled great when he pulled the engine to give it a checkup. But when he put the engine back in the transmission would not pull. I have checked to see if the torque converter bolts were connected and they were. Anyone got any ideas? I'm stumped

Re: Pulled Engine for Chk UP, Now tranny doesn't work.
make sure gear selector cable on tranny is moving and check fluid level and check to see if fluid is real dark or smells burned

I finally got the trasmission pulled out of the car and it was just as I had expected. The guy that I got the car off of did not make sure that the torque converter was all the way seated into the pump. When he started the car it destroyed the torque converter and also the pump. Anyone have a front pump + torque converter? Thanks.

Re: Pulled Engine for Chk UP, Now tranny doesn't work.
if it chewed those up you got metal throughout the tranny, just replace whole thing. the aoneengines.com, think they sell them for about $125+shipping
