Re: catalytic converter

well you already have a cat on your car, so I'm assuming you mean an aftermarket hi-flow cat. In reality, this alone will be pretty much worthless performance-wise. Without other exhaust upgrades, such as aftermarket header and cat-back exhaust...the hi-flow cat will pretty much be negated.
Just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about:

--stock header---<hiflow cat>----stock catback

Even if you open up the flow of air with a larger cat, it is still restricted before and after the cat, so any gains you would receive will be pretty much nullified.

If you were to get an aftermarket catback, or a custom one built, and perhaps an aftermarket header as well, then it would be worth it...but if you don't have and don't plan on any more exhaust mods, it really isn't worth it....
hope that helps, and if you have any more questions feel free to ask. Welcome to AF

Re: catalytic converter

Don't do it unless you have a really good reason or else you're just wasting your time.

Cat Converter

If you're looking to have better air-flow, you must have the aftermarket headers and aftermarket exhaust as well. Otherwise, it'd be useless for have a hi-flow cat converter when you have stock headers and stock exhaust; get it?

I had a Catco high-flow catalytic converter installed into my 91 accord only because i couldn't pass emittions. But I did notice a difference from the stock. The sound was throatier and the acceleration was quicker.

All around, i'm please with the result.

DC Sports is a good choice, what cat-back system do you have in mind?

Cat-back Exhaust

Honestly I don't know. By nature, aftermarket exhaust systems are louder than stock exhausts. The Apexi N1, not a bad choice, but it's pretty loud, past 98 dBA. I think Greddy does make 50-State Legal exhaust systems. Well, that's what they claimed, they said that they strived to make their exhaust systems to be 50-State Legal, but at the same time, still provide the performance.

Apexi N1, it isn't a quiet exhaust =), past 98 dBA.

*My email is: [email protected], if you have any more questions, that is. Apexi N1 does make for your car?

Go to this site: www.car-sound.com for CarSound Cat Converter, hi-flo cat. or this www.magnaflow.com

Those two links are MagnaFlow's sites.

As for the Greddy Exhaust, they are around 90+ dBA, sounds pretty deep. I never like Greddy, because its tip diameter isn't that big =), I like exhaust systems that has at least 4" tip diamter.

If you want a quiet one, go to this: www.rs-r.com
That's the site for RS*R Exhaust. ExMag (stock looking, and folks who experienced it before, they said that it is pretty quiet, as close as stock exhaust, but still provide better performance, I presumed) and ExMag GTII (I think you know).

Okay, I hoped my info would be be useful to you. Later.
