Instument Panel

Okay, so I had to take my civic to the smog referee to bypass the stupid readiness test and he wouldn't test it because my SRS light did not come on. Is this as simple as something like a blown out light or a fuse? I need to get this done to get my tags and I don't want to take it to a tech if it is something that I can do. Let me know if anyone has had experience with this before. I did a search and could not come across this issue. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

eek, I hope for your sake it's just a light bulb.. If a fuse was blown, non of the instrument lights would work, so that's not it. If you want to check the bulb, take out the two phillips screws up top, holding on the plastic thing around the cluster. After you gently pop that off, you'll see four screws holding the cluster onto the car. Undo those, then pull out four wireband clips off the back. Pull out the SRS bulb off the circuit board stuff on the back to see if it's busted. If it is or you can't really tell, try swapping it with a non vital bulb that fits it just for testing, like a turn signal bulb or something (your signals will still work).

After swapping those, put the cluster back in your car and start her up. The SRS light should come on for like 5 seconds then go out.. If it doesn't, you're screwed! I honestly don't know what that thing is..

Re: Instument Panel

I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow while changing my sis-in-law's fuel pump. I haven't checked the Hayne's yet either. It would be great if it is as simple as the fuse. Thanks for the input. If worse comes to worse I will take the panel off and test the lights like Ricochet mentioned.

I'll let you all know what develops...

Re: Instument Panel

Do you know where the SRS module is located?

I think this may have something to do with it.
