What motor did the car originally have? If you are changing it from a non TPI to TPI you might need to spend a fair amount of that money just changing things over to accept the TPI 305. Other than that, you can always increase flow with exhaust, get a bigger Throttle body, and maybe increase the fuel injectors depending on what kind of changes would need to be made for the computer to usefully incorporate the larger flow injectors.

Id just keep in mind that some money may be involved in putting that motor in before going too crazy with the tweaking of the 305 is all.

Re: 91 firebird

You can give a TPI engine a LT1 style intake but you can't turn a Gen 1 small block into a LT1 style Gen 2 small block.

I would recommend installing a cam and do some head porting or swap before the install. and Headers and catback exhaust wouldn't hurt either. Throw in a set or 3.73's and your good to go.

Re: 91 firebird

well then check www.car-part.com and www.ebay.com . See what you can come up with but with a small investment you can make the TPI just as fast as a LT1 would be

Re: 91 firebird

Putting a noisy muffler will do nothing more than grab attention, and maybe not the kind you want.
Bore it out and install flat top pistons.get some heads with bigger valves, and have the heads milled and custom valve springs installed.put a Carter AFB competition series carb on it,and a aftermarket RPM intake manifold. Then get a competition cam, roller rockers, mechanical lifters, and hooker headers.put a regular HEI distributor and dual exaust.then you will not have to worry about a computer anymore.it will be all in the name of horsepower.
