Celica 1/4 mile times.

Now my cars back to its former glory after being vandalised a couple of weeks ago I thought I`d treat it to a rolling raod tune up and a go on a drag strip just to see what its got power wise, well the engines producing 263bhp at the flywheel which I didnt think was too bad as my planned mods havnt come yet, I did get told the torque values etc but cant remember what the mechanic said, for alot of it I had to kinda nodd my head as if I knew what he was on about. My first ever attempt at a 1/4 mile time produced 14.1 secs for my first go and 14.8 for my second??? dont know whats going on there, more practice needed I think.
Purely out of interest or morbid fascination I was wondering what evryone else was running in there Celica`s and what power is being achieved?
A few upgrades are going on next week and another tune up so I`ll try and get all the info to pass on.
Also I wanna change the water/coolant in the Intercooler, do I need to use special coolant or will water and antifreeze be enough?
Happy driving

Re: Celica 1/4 mile times.

the reason why you probably had such a diffrent e/t was becuase you might have launched at a slightly diffrent rpm...and on turbo cars that can make a huge diffrence

Re: Celica 1/4 mile times.

New fuel pump, titanium spark plugs, luminescence HT leads, K&N airfilter going on this weekend so hopefully I`ll be able to get into the high 13`s at the 1/4 mile on sunday, fingers crossed, and as long as the weather stays dry. I`ll try and sort out my RPMs to get a more consistant run. Also I`ll set up a link to a video of the day if someone brings a video camera along, as the best I can do is stills which arnt too much fun.

Re: Celica 1/4 mile times.

Fuel pump wise I dont know what make it is, just a high flow unit capable of handling higher outputs (up to 500BHP) not that my engine is putting out anywhere near that much power but you never know!!!! As for my 1/4 mile times, it was my first ever go and I didnt wanna F*ck it up in front of all the seasoned pro`s stood watching so I concentrated on getting to the end in one piece, next time I`m just gonna go for it and to hell with the clutch. so if I`m sposed to hit 13`s stock, maybe I`ll get into high 12`s. More practice needed.
