HELP!!, Need to know if this will work

i have a 2004 cav. i want to replace the steering wheel, now i know how to get it off and everything, but im having trouble finding products i can use. grant says none of their kits will work on a car with airbags, but personally i plan on just buying a steering wheel i like and doing away with the airbag, i wanted to use a yellow accented steering wheel to go with my car, if anyone knows of a installation kit and steering wheel combo that will work please refer me to the link or the part numbers, im looking for it to have a nos buttin on the wheel as well, any help would be apreciated, it can be grant, momo, or any other supplier i just want a wheel that will work

You will loose function of you airbags... no matter what. GM required that 2 of the bags be functional at once.. So you light in your consol with begin to flash.. sorry to say... your SOL....

ok well im not to worried about losing the air bags, never liked them anyways, the basterds cost me 3000 dollars when i got in a tiny fender bender and they deployed, i just want to know if there is a steering wheel and installation kit that will fit onto the shaft of the steering column, i can live without the airbags, this is the first car ive owned with them in anyways, just let me know if say i can put a grant wheel on without having to modify alot of major shit, i can stop the blinking lite bye pulling the fuse to the air bags im sure, if not oh well il take the thing out and fix it from inside the guage pod. but if anyone can tell me if i can get a aftermarket steering wheel on, thas what im needing to know. also with the shift knob, its not threaded so wher can i find a knob that will fit on inplace of the old one

I think any dumbass stupid enough to want to take his airbags removed needs to be shot... Im a firefighter in Washington and ive seen more deaths caused by people not wearing seatblets and turning airbags off (on the passenger side) that its scary... I highly recommend not changing your steering wheel out... Cars made today are meant to crumple up in wrecks and the only reason that the driver survives is usually because they were wearing seatblet and had an airbag... Dont take it personally... its just that from my experiences its not pretty to see a mangled body lieing half through the windshield of a car on top of the hood.

If you have racing seats and harnesses the airbag wont be of use and will probably cause more injury in the form of the burns which are ok with a standard style belt but with harnesses (so long as installed correctly) they just ruin the steering wheel and dash. I wouldn't change my wheel until after I did the seats. If you think about it. Rally cars don't have airbags and the crashes they walk away from!!! (i know they have cages but they wont matter in a frontal collision. I think people whoi don't wear belts and then moan about getting a ticket nedd to shut the hell up and I agree with what you're saying. I"m going Cage, seats and harnesses in time!

Even with racing seats and harness you need to be carful on the mounting point of them. I see alot of J owners gettin a bar that goes on the floor in the back or running the lenght of the B-pillars...

Re: HELP!!, Need to know if this will work

lol funny enough this post is goin on ... i work with my neighbor when i am off- he is a tow/repo and recovery agent - i see wrecks all time, people missing limbs legs arms head severed off - bad shit- tonight he called me @ 11 pm - accident - 5 miles from our house 2 girls in a 2001 cavy rolled it calculated 6 time then an end over end - needless to say the bags didnt go off - all were wearing seatbelts an a good thing cause it allowed them to walk away from the crash barely hurt - one had a broken nose from hittin the stearing wheel an the other had a dislocated right arm.... pain yes but alive....

cars these days are made with crumple zones which are little wrinkles in certain spots(ex. the little raise bumps on the inside top of fenders) to take energy from the crash an take that engery have the parts take the abuse incase the airbags do not deploy - because they are electronic they are not 100% to work so they make the cars as if the car isnt goin to have airbags.... yeah if you are goin 60 mph sideways an hit a fat tree on the drivers side you have a 98% chance your goin to die - a good friend of mine lost his life that way...
just because your a firefighter doesnt mean ya know what your talking about -
My point is proven

ya i installed one of them in 2 of my cars - they tighten the chass. for firmer handling an side collapse protection... mine cost about $150 got 2 one in blue an one silver. ya bolt them into the bottom by the front seat belt bolts an then tighten with the nut in the middle - lays across the floor behind the front seats ... that what your talking about?

i'll take a picture of it an show ya tomorrow if i get home early enough
