severe gas smell

I have a 1993 Rodeo & lately it has been putting out severe gas odors.....particularly in idle....you can smell the gas fumes before you even walk up to the car & there are also slight fumes inside the car. Any ideas what the problem might be? I don't notice any leaking gas anywhere, so I'm kinda baffled.

Your gas cap might not be sealing properly, causing fumes to escape...or you could have a leak in a gas line somewhere. Try to find where the smell is strongest. Check under the hood when its not running and see if you smell gas in there. If you smell a good gas smell in there then I would check around the fuel injectors to make sure they're not leaking. Your fuel pressure regulator may also be bad...I've heard that can cause gas smell as well.
